A note about AI and ModGate
I’m building ModGate to solve a problem I’ve experienced: getting everyone set up with the right mods shouldn’t be the hardest part of joining a Valheim server.
I decide what ModGate should do, how it should feel to use, and what needs to change. I test it, work through feedback with testers, and bring the problems we encounter back into development.
AI has played a substantial role in writing code, developing the interface, troubleshooting, and creating documentation and promotional graphics. I want to be clear about that rather than present all of that work as something I wrote or made by hand.
Honestly, AI is better and faster at writing code than I am. It lets me turn ideas into features I would struggle to build on my own, and spend more time testing, making designs, and improving the experience for players and server owners. That doesn’t mean it always gets the code right—finding and fixing mistakes is still part of development.
My role is to give the project its direction and keep refining it around real use. Neither AI nor automated checks guarantee that everything is correct. I remain responsible for what I publish and for addressing problems as they’re found.
ModGate is free and open source under the MIT License. You’re welcome to look through the code, suggest improvements, or build on it yourself.
